Tree Planting in Bowling Park

Hi all,

We have a tree planting opportunity on Thursday (the 27^th) for any children wanting to learn how to plant and stake a tree  …or adults that want to help out. We’ll be digging with trowels and spades, transferring some of the soil into buckets, adding some little channels for the roots to feed into, adding a wooden stake, returning the soil, stamping it down and seeing some wiggly worms along the way. There will be two hazel trees, one silver birch and one rowan and they’ll be going in down by the Better Place Natural Play Area (where the sandpit is).

I planted some other trees elsewhere last week with Year 4 and 5 students, but this can be suitable for any age from 5 to 16.
